    The annual Mega Meeting is an exclusive A/E/C industry event and a wonderful opportunity to promote your firm or organization. The program is supported by the following eight professional associations and brings in over 250 attendees within the design and built environment.

     Program Description:

    Georgia has been ranked as the #1 State for Business for five years in a row. Our local chambers of commerce, community improvement districts, development authorities, and more play a key role in attracting businesses to our great state.

    Join us for this year’s MEGA Meeting where we will take a closer look at how organizations such as the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta BeltLine help grow our region by attracting new business and maintaining Georgia’s seat at the top of the list.

    Keynote Speaker:

    Chris Clark
    President & CEO
    GEORGIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

    A Georgia native, Chris Clark is the President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and his master’s degree in public administration from Georgia College and State University.

    Prior to joining the Georgia Chamber, Chris served as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and as Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Economic Development. Before his state service, he was the President of the Fayette County Development Authority and CEO of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.

    Chris serves on the Board of Directors for Council of State Chambers as the Secretary Treasurer, and sits on the boards of the Georgia Allies, the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, and Georgia College and State University Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Council of 100, the U.S. Chamber’s Board, and the Political Affairs Committee. Among other things, he is a member of the Board of Visitors for the University of Georgia.

    He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and has been consistently named one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s 100 most influential Georgians and one of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s most influential Atlantans. He received GEDA’s Zell Miller Public Policy Leadership Award. Chris also serves on the Board of Directors for the Real Life Center, a Christian outreach program that provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and educational classes for those in need.

    Jerald Mitchell
    Economic Development Director
    ATLANTA BELTLINE, INC.

    Jerald Mitchell joined the Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) as the Economic Development Director in February 2014. In this capacity, he plays a critical role in developing and advancing the economic development strategy in partnership with Invest Atlanta to support the implementation of the Atlanta BeltLine’s mission. Previously, Mr. Mitchell served as the Director of Emerging Industry for the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA).

    Before he was the Director of Emerging Industry, Mr. Mitchell led SEDA’s Innovation Department focusing on the growth and investment for start-ups and entrepreneurs and previously managed SEDA’s Business Attraction activity as a senior business development professional. Prior to SEDA, he held roles as Regional Project Manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Director of Economic Development for the Coastal Regional Commission. Mr. Mitchell also has significant leadership and management experience in the telecommunications industry and during his 13-year tenure in that field held management positions as Area Marketing and Government Relations Manager, Senior Manager of Customer Care and Operations Manager in both the Savannah and Jacksonville regions for Comcast.

    A Savannah native, Mr. Mitchell received his Executive Masters of Business Administration in International Business from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his BA in Economics from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He is a graduate of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2013 and was named one of Savannah’s Rising Stars in 2014. Mr. Mitchell was recognized by the Business Journal and Report’s 40 under 40 business professionals in 2006 and was selected for Comcast University’s corporate leadership program, Leadership Savannah and Leadership Southeast Georgia.

    sara Maffey
    Vice President of place strategy
    TRANSWESTERN

    Sara Maffey is the Vice President of Place Strategy on Transwestern's Transaction Sciences and co-leader of Transwestern Studio, where she works with clients to create a sense of place, from site selection to developing building-wide ecosystems. Sara is also the founder of Localhippo, a custom gift company that curates hyper-locally made goods and experiences for multi-tenant clients.

    Previously, Sara was the founding partner of Edgewood Strategies, an economic development strategy consulting firm. She was also a Senior Consultant with Cushman and Wakefield, focused on site selection and business incentives related to major commercial and industrial real estate transactions across the country. Her career is rooted in economic development. As a Director at New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Sara developed a HUD-funded $100 million business recovery program in response to Hurricane Sandy and managed the operations of a new department. Sara also served as a Presidential Management Fellow with the Economic Development Administration (EDA) in the U.S. Department of Commerce, where she developed projects throughout the southwest.

    Sara has consulted with organizations throughout the U.S. and in Tanzania, Brazil and India. Prior to business school, Sara worked as a project manager for Turner Construction, working on two major laboratory buildings in New York City.

    Sara is the Atlanta Chapter President and a board member of the Yale School of Management Alumni Association. She earned her Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Urban Design and Architectural Studies from New York University. Sara received an MBA from Yale University.

    Amanda Shailendra
    Economic Development and Site Selection Specialist
    Pendleton

    Amanda Shailendra is an economic development and site selection specialist whose experience has included leading expansion projects and strategic negotiation for Google, Inc. and over 100 economic development projects for the City of Atlanta and State of Georgia.  Amanda is an Associate with The Pendleton Group, where she advises both private companies and public entities, relying heavily on her past professional experience at Google, Inc. and the Georgia Department of Economic Development. 

    Amanda most recently led Metro Expansion for Google Fiber, Inc for Atlanta and the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.  In this role, Amanda provided internal strategic decision-making for expansion and operations for the Fiber Network Investment. She managed external relationships, both public and private, and worked with multiple teams to support faster and less disruptive deployment of the Google Fiber network.

    Previously, Amanda held the position of Director for Life Sciences and Corporate Solutions for the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), where she led the location of new facilities for Mercedes-Benz USA, athenahealth, Porsche Cars North America, and AT&T Mobility.

    Amanda currently sits on the Advisory Board for Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy.  In 2015 Governor Deal appointed her to the Georgia Non-public Post-Secondary Education Commission (GNPEC) and the Tuition Guarantee Trust Fund (TGTF).  Amanda graduated from Leadership Georgia in 2011.  She sits on the Honorary Board of Trustees for Atlanta Ballet, the Advisory Board for the Alliance Theater, and the Board of Advisors for the PreSchool at Second-Ponce Baptist Church.

    A native of Augusta, GA, Amanda earned her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a Master of Science from Georgia Tech, where she was a MacArthur Fellow.

    general manager, economic & industrial development
    GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY

    Stacy joined the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) in 1992, and has held numerous positions within the Georgia Ports.  Prior to becoming the General Manager of Economic & Industrial Development, Stacy held various management positions within the GPA to include Marketing, Container Operations and Ship Operations.

    Stacy is a graduate of Leadership 
    Savannah and Leadership Georgia. Stacy is a Board Member of the Georgia Ports Authority Credit Union, Union Mission Inc., Past Chairman of the Better Business Bureau of the Southeast Atlantic and Past Committee Chairman and current member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association. He is also a member of the Propeller Club of Savannah and the Transportation Club of Savannah.

    Stacy earned his A.S. in Business Administration from Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia. He then received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with an emphasis in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia in August 1992. In 2004, Stacy also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Webster University in Savannah. Stacy holds the rank of Major in the Georgia Air National Guard, 165th Airlift Wing, in Garden City, Georgia and serves as the Wing Inspector General.
